Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Graduate School of Business held “IUE MBA Reunion”. Julia Akertek, Training Specialist from Linklaters LLP, a Frankfurt-based law firm, conducted a seminar on innovative performance management at the event organized with the purpose of bringing graduates of MBA program together and strengthening the communication network between the students.
Izmir fashion designers have become famous in European fashion. Dilara Karaca, Graduate of Department of Fashion and Textile Design, Faculty of Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), came in first place with her design at the contest held at “SVP London Fashion Trade Show” in England. Karaca, who represented Turkey in England, also received scholarship for a training course at Fashion Enter, portfolio assessment, and £750 cash prize.

Entrepreneurial Chef Onur Canbulat, Graduate, Department of Culinary Arts and Management, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), is serving his guests at “Lokanta Levan” where he cooks delicious food over wood fire combining traditionalism and creativity.
The Turkish saying, ‘Bir fincan kahvenin kırk yıl hatırı vardır (A cup coffee starts the friendship of 40 years)’ is verified by 3rd generation coffee lovers. In her research on daily coffee consumption habits, Ekin Dorak, student at Department of Sociology, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, found out that 60% of the customers viewed 3rd generation coffee houses as a social atmosphere, and that more than one cup of coffee was consumed throughout the day.
Car interior design meets comfort. Didem Çiftçi, student from Department of Electrical and Electronics, Faculty of Engineering, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), Emre İçöz, graduate, also from the same department, and Mert Gültekin, Master’s student at IUE Design Management Program, made custom design lighting for the car headliner by using LED technology.
Izmir University of Economics (IUE), who is training the future Aerospace Engineers, qualified for a gold award for developing exercise harness for astronauts at the international design competition.
Izmir Economics students carry designers worldwide via e-commerce. The site, “baskasındarama.com”, developed by siblings Esra Sarıhan, Graduate of IUE Department of Industrial Engineering, and Melis Sarıhan, Graduate of IUE Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering, include products of Turkish designers in addition to their own designs.
Those who make a difference in work life shared their vast experience with students at the “2nd IUE Human Resources Summit”.
Beauty industry goes digital. Fırat Turan, graduate of IUE Department of Computer Engineering, and Murat Yaşar, graduate of IUE Department of Mathematics, brought over 65 beauty enterprises in Izmir such as beauty salons and hairdressers, etc. together under a mobile application they developed and named “Vigo”.
The stages in Germany are being designed by IUE fashion designers.
