I took my first step to psychology department, field I was dying to study at since middle school, in 2008 at Izmir University of Economics as my third choice. After completing a successful five-year education with full scholarship, I graduated as Honor Student in 2013. On my first day at school, I said to myself, “What am I doing here?” I’ve always though different about private schools, and never thought I would study at one until the last day. My guidance teacher told me about Izmir University of Economics. I wouldn’t have imagined how my life, perspective, horizon would change as I entered that gate. Izmir University of Economics offered me more than I dreamed about. The medium of instruction being in English was a gift granted to me when I came to think about the researches in the field of psychology since many of the studies were in English. If I were to attend a school in which medium of instruction was in Turkish, I would be wasting time to reach where I am in my career right now. I’ve realized that I had limited knowledge on psychology in Introduction to Psychology class. The school offered me to become “Good Psychologist” with both its instructors, psychology labs, theoretical and applied knowledge. I was able to put what I learned at the University into practice right after I graduated. I had the feeling that everything I learned at Izmir University of Economics (both in theory and practice) was regular stuff. I’ve come to realize that it was all privilege when I saw the reactions of people about my experience and knowledge I acquired at IUE. The place I am working at right now was a place I thought about getting in five or six years’ time, but, thanks to the education I received at Izmir University of Economics, I reached this goal in two years’ time.  I would like to express my gratitude to Izmir University of Economics and to all my instructors. I realize now that I’ve made the best choice. All you need to do is to choose Izmir University of Economics if you want to realize your dreams, be different than the others, and most importantly discover yourself!
