I graduated from Izmir University of Economics, Department of Industrial Systems Engineering in 2016 with a high honors degree. Among my goals before starting university were to receive a comprehensive and technically competent engineering education at world standards, to continue my career abroad and to gain experience in the business world before graduation. Among the most important reasons why I chose Izmir University of Economics were its competent and experienced academic staff, the scholarship opportunities it offers, the fact that the medium of instruction being English, the opportunities to learn second and third foreign languages, the recognition of the University at home and abroad, and the many opportunities that open up to the business world.

Choosing a university and department creates a great responsibility for every student. Although I had ideas in mind before taking the university exam, I took the time to get to know the universities and departments. I was able to get into many of the public universities and programs that I had in mind, and I never planned to study at a private / foundation university. However, as I researched further, I decided that I should examine universities not only by name, department, city but also in terms of the opportunities they offer, and that my choice would only be correct in this way. And thanks to this mind frame, I met Izmir University of Economics. During the open house, the student mentors were giving a tour around campus for prospective students who came to see and learn about Izmir University of Economics.

Between 2009 and 2011, I actively worked as an interior architect in the architectural firm of our family. I started my undergraduate study in Tourism Management at Dokuz Eylül University in 2004. But three years have passed by the time I started to make different plans for my future. I can honestly say that taking the OSS exam again and being admitted to Izmir University of Economics has been a turning point in my life even though I have lost all that time. A real milestone…If I haven’t done that I would be engaged in a profession I really did not enjoy. Instead, I am working as a Comptroller at Ministry of Finance.
