Working moms will no longer worry about how their babies are fed. Başak Yunatcı, Graduate of IUE Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Industrial Design, designed “Sentiva – Breast Milk Warmer” for moms who pump breast milk because they cannot breast feed their babies during work hours and keep it in the freezer. Yunatcı is waiting for investors to start mass production.
Yunatcı stated that she came up with her design Sentiva in order to ease life for working moms and provide babies with healthy breast milk. She said, “Working moms pump breast milk because they cannot breast feed their babies during work hours, and freeze it. When it’s time to feed the baby, the baby sitter takes the bottle from the freezer and puts it in the refrigerator in order to thaw it, which may take up to one and a half hour. Later, the bottle is held under running hot water to get it warm which requires testing the temperature of the milk by dropping some on the wrist. This process, up to 4 times a day, is long and tiring. I created Sentiva to ease this process.”
Every detail is considered!
Yunatcı pointed that Benmari style was used for heating and thawing, and the breast milk was heated up to 350 centigrade, best temperature for babies. IUE Designer also said that the product informed about the temperature of the milk via sound system. Yunatcı stated the following on how Sentiva worked:
“The baby sitter takes the bottle from freezer and places it in Sentiva directly. Sentiva has three programs. The first one is thawing; the milk is thawed first and then the heating mode starts. The second program is heating; it is used for heating the bottle that was kept in the refrigerator for couple of hours. The last program is maintaining the heat. Sometimes, babies cannot finish up their bottles, so the left over milk is thrown away since it cannot be re-heated. It is a pity to throw away such nutritious milk, so it can be placed back in Sentiva, where it is kept at a stable temperature up to 4 hours safely. I am waiting to get the attention of the sector so moms can start experiencing this comfort right away.”
