Mathematical figures and outcomes of technology are reflected on fashion. Neslihan Biri and Hande Çil, Graduates of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Department of Fashion and Textile Design, used 3 D in their designs.
Neslihan Biri, who used mathematical equations in her designs, said that math consisted of equations and she said, “I was inspired by parametric equation. They are being used in architectural designs. I turned them into 3 D with the help of a laser cut. A garment design alone consisted of 500 complementary and repeating pieces. The number gets even higher in my other designs.”
Hande Çil, on the other hand, said that she focused on digital beauty in her designs. Çil mentioned that programs on arranging photos through technology improved and she said, “We are experiencing the change about beauty ideals. It has become much easier to create an unrealistic world via photo programs. I got inspired by the contrast of digital beauty and natural beauty. I brought together the pixels of a digital environment and the purity of reality. Matte and soft colours formed the main characters of my theme. As the smooth surfaces matched to the flawlessness of digital environment, forms that are added dimensions reflect the signs of reality.”
