Life at university is nothing compared to high school or anything else. When I chose Izmir University of Economics in 2009, I asked myself if I made the right decision. 5 years were ahead of me to see if I made the right decision or not. I’ve always tried my best at Izmir University of Economics and became a successful student. I did not qualify for any scholarships when I first enrolled at school but my hard work paid off and I qualified for 50% merit scholarship. In addition to courses in Public Relations and Advertising, I’ve taken many other electives from variety of fields including Business and Software Engineering. I’ve never regretted taking such courses since they all helped me obtain a different perspective. Another important thing at school was compulsory second foreign languages. Spanish courses I’ve taken allowed me to apply at different jobs even when I was still studying. By the time I’ve graduated, I was able to speak and write Spanish at level B1. I also took advantage of the Erasmus program the University offered. I’ve attended Budapest Communication and Business School at Hungary as an Erasmus student with scholarship. I had the opportunity to interact and live with different cultures and analyze and learn about my field there. I especially had the chance to improve in International Marketing and International Advertising areas. Following that I got the opportunity to perform internship at Universidade de Lisboa ISEG in Portugal, one of Europe’s biggest universities. I also improved myself in International Marketing and International Advertising there. Since I was good at Spanish, I easily got a good command of Portuguese. In my last year, I took the scholarship exam held by Hungarian government. Following a series of interviews in Turkey and Hungary, I qualified for Master’s degree in International Relations and Management at Budapest Business School with a full government scholarship. I worked as Corporate Communication Specialist at TED Private Schools in Izmir. Now, currently I am working at Supply Chain Wizard as Human Resources Director. I guess the question I asked myself on the first day of school got answered when I threw the graduation cap in the air. I can honestly say that Izmir University of Economics had a tremendous role in shaping and directing my life. I can comfortably answer the question I asked myself 5 years ago… Thank you Izmir University of Economics!
