Yağmur Arslan (20), who graduated from Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program this year, got a job at Qatar Airways, the world-famous brand of the industry, as soon as she received her diploma. Making a difference with her good English skills and effective communication with people, Arslan, who was selected among hundreds of people as a result of the 3-day interview in Istanbul, will settle in Doha, the capital of Qatar, and start working within a month. Arslan, who will fly to many parts of the world as a cabin crew, will successfully represent our country in this field.
‘FOREIGN LANGUAGE’ WAS A GREAT ADVANTAGE
Yağmur Arslan, a graduate of IUE Vocational School Civil Aviation Cabin Services Program, stated that she loved to travel and see different places since she was a child, and stated that her major matched with her interests. Stating that she brought her English skills to a very good level at university, which provided her a great advantage in job interviews, Arslan said, “I am a person who is always confident in myself and my knowledge. When I learned that there was a job opening at Qatar Airways, I immediately applied. Every detail was asked during the interview. Frankly, I was worried that my chances would drop at some point, as there would be a large number of applications to choose from. Thank goodness it didn't. It's a great feeling to get a job as soon as I graduated from university. I am happy to work in a place that I want and believe I will love.”
MADE RECOMMENDATIONS TO STUDENTS
Arslan continued as follows: “In particular, I did not have a primary goal of going to Qatar or abroad. But such an opportunity came to me. I want to make the best of this. My family is happy, but also surprised and excited. I was educated with great opportunities at the University by academics who are experts in their field. I would like to thank my academics who contributed to my training and prepared me for the future in the best way possible. I would like to make some suggestions to students who are majoring in the same program as me. Life can present an opportunity at any moment. Educate yourself very well not to miss this opportunity, focus on what you need to do to be a preferred person. Take the foreign language very seriously, keep yourself active in this field. Meet with the leading names of the sector, ask them what you are curious about, establish a network and make good use of internship opportunities. Trust yourself, take the right steps to unlock your potential. When you do this, you will feel close to the finish line.”
