Burakhan Sayın from Izmir, who wanted to be a lawyer since childhood, and got a chance to study at Faculty of Law, thanks to a transfer opportunity from Vocational School of Justice to Faculty of Law, turned that chance into a success. Sayın, who started his education at Vocational School of Justice, Izmir University of Economics (IUE) in 2013, took a transfer exam two years later and successfully transferred to, and graduated from Faculty of Law and received his diploma. Sayın, who is getting ready to work as a legal intern, said, “I took the advantage of studying at the Vocational School of Justice. My efforts are renumerated.” Asst. Prof. Cem Özcan, Director of IUE Vocational School of Justice said, “As a program which opens a door to the Faculty of Law, witnessing the successes of many students such as Burakhan makes us very happy.”
Burakhan Sayın, who lives in Balçova district, took the university exam in 2013 and qualified to enroll to IUE Vocational School of Justice with full scholarship. Studying successfully with a high GPA, Sayın was encouraged by his academics to take the transfer exam to study at Faculty of Law. After studying very hard, his efforts paid off and Sayın qualified to study at IUE Faculty of Law still eligible for his full tuition scholarship. Sayın successfully graduated and took the first step to become a lawyer.
“My choice changed my life”
Stating that he was very happy to have reached his goal, Sayın said, “I hope to be a very good attorney, and both serve my country and represent my university successfully. I understood once again how my decision to study at the Vocational School of Justice years ago was the best decision. It changed my life. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who believed in me and supported me, and my academics at Izmir University of Economics.”
“New successes will follow”
Asst. Prof. Cem Özcan, Director of IUE Vocational School of Justice, who graduated from Galatasaray University, Department of Law, and completed his Master’s at Sorbonne University, France, said that many students like Burakhan Sayın get an opportunity to pursue academic developments through transfer. Asst. Prof. Özcan said, “Vocational School of Justice, known as a gateway to the faculty of law, attracts the attention of prospective university students. It makes us very proud to see the graduates of our Vocational School studying at Faculty of Law. Many students accomplished this so far. We witnessed their success stories, and new stories will be added in the future.”
“Lucky to find a job”
Asst. Prof. Özcan said that IUE was one of the most preferred universities when it came to transfer. “Students, who graduate from Vocational School of Justice, are very lucky in finding a job. They can work at various sections of the judicial organization such as the enforcement office, as a correspondence clerk, or proceedings clerk. They can also find jobs at private sector and banking and finance. The faculty members of Department of Law teach majority of the courses at Vocational School of Justice. The courses being taught include theoretical courses regarding public and private law, and practical courses such as legal writing, using a keyboard, and archiving and filing,” said Asst. Prof. Özcan.
