Bicycles, which are popular modes of sports and transportation, are becoming more functional. Efe Çukur, Graduate of Department of Industrial Design, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Izmir University of Economics (IUE), designed a foldable 4-wheeled mountain bike. Çukur stated that people, who did not feel safe with 2-wheeled bikes but wanted to enjoy the winding trails, would now be able to use his special design called, “Wolfstrike”. Çukur reported that his design also allowed attaching a child’s seat in front of the bike.
Çukur pointed that people’s conception of daily sports activities changed, and he said that Wolfstrike was easily foldable due to its small framework and rims. Çukur said, “This bike which can be folded in three easy steps, fit in trunks comfortably. It makes storing the bike at home or in the garage easier. It can stay in the trunk all the time allowing it to be ready to use whenever, wherever.”
'Safe Mountain biking with a child'
The full suspension mountain bike frame and brake discs on each of the four wheels allow riders a dirt road riding experience as well, reported Çukur and he said, “Bicycle use is increasing in our lives each passing day. I wanted to create a design for people, who did not feel safe with 2-wheeled bikes but wanted to enjoy bike riding with their children. With its foldable structure, people can enjoy trail riding with 4-wheeled bikes and have a different experience”.
