Top students of Izmir University of Economics (IUE), carry their achievements into the business world by teaming up. Güray Kurşunoğlu, top student of IUE Graduate Degree Programs in 2012, and Canan Yaranoğlu, top student of the University in 2013 joined their forces at KPMG, an international public accountant firm. Güray Kurşunoğlu, the manager of the international firm that provides services in auditing, is teaching the fine details of the job to Canan Yaranoğlu, who started working as a tax assistant next day of her graduation ceremony.
Prof. Dr. Serdar Özkan, IUE Head of Department of Business Administration, who came together with his graduates, pointed out those students performed their occupations by internalising as a result of the education they received at IUE. Prof. Dr. Serdar Özkan said, “Successful members of the business world from different occupational groups, who completed their graduate studies in our programs, join forces to excel. They establish a new communication network which enables them to have new information as well as freshening up their knowledge.”
Güray Kurşunoğlu, IUE Graduate School of Social Sciences Executive MBA 2012 graduate, indicated that after completing his undergraduate studies in 90’s, he renewed and improved his knowledge in the graduate degree courses he took. He said, “I had two major outcomes from the program as an employee of accountant and auditing sector. I had the opportunity of self-improvement in marketing field. You can’t really be aware of the different trends and improvements as you settle into doing the same job over time. However, this education enabled me to catch up with the improvements in marketing. I also increased my expertise in management of customer relations in the auditing sector. My communication network became better and larger. I had a chance to get together with managers and entrepreneurs from various sectors.” Kurşunoğlu also stated that graduate studies changed his point of view, and his vision on a broader perspective from economics to social media, and he became more active in his work life. Kurşunoğlu indicated that he worked with Canan Yaranoğlu during her internship, and they were impressed with her education and work discipline.
Canan Yaranoğlu, top graduate of IUE 2012 – 2013 Academic Year, Department of Business Administration, stated that she started working as tax assistant at KPMG Yetkin Yeminli Mali Müşavirlik A.Ş the next day of her graduation ceremony. Yaranoğlu said, “I had good quality of education in accounting and auditing. This education led me to start working at a very reputable institution which takes part among the four largest auditing firms worldwide. I see the positive outcomes of this education in my work life. I continue to learn. We also benefit from the assistance of our valuable lecturers in work life.”
