Izmir University of Economics became the place I missed a lot in a short period of time, the place that I wanted to come back again and again. Without a doubt I missed my University, in which I grew up with the academicians who are experts in their fields, a lot. Think about a place there is no hierarchy, what can I tell, instructors that want to support you all the time, Spanish instructor whose concert we attended to, or head of our department with whom we had tea in the cafeteria together? I appreciate the value of my University more now even though every morning I went to school with great joy, despite exam times when I felt like I was in the “can’t take no more” mood…I always watched on TV series when I was a kid where university students lying on the grass, clubs engaging in activities, friendly academicians…The moment I entered Izmir University of Economics, dream and reality came together. We too lay down on the grass, participated in different activities with social clubs, and did more… Izmir University of Economics squeezed “life” into university environment for me. I was never like, “I don’t have time for social life because of school”. I found time to go the dance class I wanted, spent time and enjoyed myself at rhythm club; I also had time to study. And I did all this within the borders of Izmir University of Economics. While working on group projects, we used to study at the library and then head out to salsa class and dance our sorrows away. As I said, Izmir University of Economics squeezed “life” into university environment...“Software Verification and Validation” course was offered at the time when I even did not know what it meant in Turkish. How was I to know that a course I even did not know anything about would become my area of specialization now? Currently, I am working at one of the major electronics factories of Turkey for 11 years. I work at Vestel as “Software Design Verification and Senior Test Engineer”. My story does not include a job search period because I found my job before I graduated. As a senior, I attended school 2 days a week and worked at Vestel part-time for 3 days. I became a full-time employee when I graduated. Having a flexible course schedule helped me a lot. Finally, I would like to express my gratitude to Izmir University of Economics for helping me discover myself, my pursuit, and I am proud to say “glad to be a member of Izmir Economics”...
