I started university in 2005 at Department of Economics at Izmir University of Economics as my first choice, and graduated successfully in 2009. Courses I took were matching the character of my profession since I was interested in economics at an earlier age because of our family business as jeweler. During my leisure times I worked part-time at our family business “Bülent Maro Mücevherat”. I needed to get ready for work life as a second generation representative. When we look at the education levels of jewelers and jewelry makers in Turkey in general we can see that they are high school graduates. As an individual I believed that I needed to have the top level professional education for my career, and therefore I got my graduate degree in Business Administration at Ege University in 2012.There are a few local organizations that offer education on jewelry and valuable gems in Turkey; however, they offer short and not so qualified education. I needed to get a strong education so I applied and attended a 2 month education program to get a “diamond specialist certificate” at a lab in Belgium. I believe education is important but professional education is much more important. My dream was to work at world’s best retail stores and diamond grading laboratories. In 2013, after a 3 year experience at family company, I started to apply for jobs for about 4-5 months.I started to work as Diamond Grader at Gemological Institute of America (GIA) in California. Gemological Institute of America (GIA) is the world’s largest, well-respected, nonprofit gemological research and education institution. GIA supports the jewelry industry on a global scale for more than eighty years. GIA, with its research, education, and gemology lab in 14 countries including America, India, and Middle East, works to ensure the trust of consumers in jewelry and gem industry. It is the best and most trusted company to provide a diamond report. World renowned top quality retail stores such as Cartier, De Beers, and Van Cleef & Arpels offers their customers GIA certified products. Approximately 2000 people work at GIA, and I am the only Turkish national there. I took a risk when I decided to quit family business, Bıt I like taking risks. I believe and know that I am one of the best in diamond field in Turkey and Europe.I am now at the summit of my dream career. I am where I want to be. Trust yourself and have a wide vision. I am proud of my school and what it gave me. I would like to express my gratitude to my teachers at Izmir Economics and try to repay my debt always. I hope everyone works at a job they like. Best regards...
