I got into Department of Economics, Izmir University of Economics with a full scholarship in 2010. The main reasons why I chose our university, which I had the opportunity to get to know better during Career Days, are having a qualified academic staff, providing a second foreign language opportunity and having extensive social opportunities. After a year of preparatory study and improving my level of English, which was at the most basic level, I started doing a double major in Mathematics in the second year of my undergraduate education. The next year, I attended the Erasmus program at Lisbon School of Economics, an internationally renowned university. During the Erasmus period, I experienced the adequacy of the English language provided by our school, both academically and in daily life. I graduated from the Department of Economics in 2015 and from the Department of Mathematics in 2016 as an honor student. During my time at the University, I both reduced the stress of the lessons and improved myself socially by taking an active role in the promotion team of the university’s open house period and in clubs such as Turkish classical music club and music club, and doing plenty of sports within the university. Immediately after, I got accepted to the integrated doctoral program with a teaching assistant scholarship from the State University of New York - Binghamton University and moved to America, which has always been my dream. The name of our school and the references I received from my professors had a positive effect on this. After completing a year and a half in the program, I received my master's degree and returned to Istanbul due to the changes in my future goals. Shortly after, I started working as an actuarial analyst in the actuarial modeling department at Willis Towers Watson Istanbul office, the world-class British risk and insurance consultancy company. After working here for 3 years, I moved to KPMG as a manager to work in the actuarial department of the FSA and still work here. Thanks to Izmir University of Economics, which was a turning point in my life and enabled me to come to this point today, and especially Prof. Dr. I would like to thank my esteemed teachers, Hakan Yetkiner, who always support and guide me, for everything. Izmir University of Economics provides you with all kinds of opportunities; How much you improve yourself is in your hands.
