One thousand 213 students received their diplomas at the second of the graduation ceremonies at Izmir University of Economics (IUE). Selami Özpoyraz, President of Izmir Chamber of Commerce Council, who attended the ceremony, stated that IUE graduates made an impression nationwide with their achievements. President Özpoyraz said, “I am most certain that we will be reading about your success stories in business life in the near future”.
IUE Graduates of School of Applied Management Sciences, Faculties of Business, Arts and Science, and Fine Arts and Design, who successfully completed their studies in 2018 – 2019 Academic Year, received their diplomas at the ceremony that took place at IUE Amphitheatre. The ceremony, which was also broadcasted live on social media, drew great deal of attention. The amphitheater was packed with families and friends of graduates who wanted to share their joy. Students, going through excitement and happiness at the same time, threw their caps into the air proudly at the end of the ceremony. Büşra Bektaş, Fatma Kılıç, and Mert Yenice, highest-ranking students of the university (joint first place) attached a star on the commemorative symbolic log with Selami Özpoyraz, President of Izmir Chamber of Commerce Council, and IUE Rector Prof. Murat Aşkar.
“Success is not unreachable”
In his speech, President Özpoyraz pointed out that thanks to the high quality education they receive; students of Izmir University of Economics were a step ahead in every area. President Özpoyraz, who stated that success was not an unreachable target, said, “You have proven that no obstacles can stop you from reaching your goals when you work hard and tirelessly. You may come across some difficulties in some parts of your life, but do not ever lose self-confidence. Go on with determination.”
“The University takes on a very important task”
President Özpoyraz indicated that they had high expectations from the youth. Özpoyraz stated the following:
“Our graduates achieved many accomplishments all around the world by synthesizing their academic gains with the culture and values of the University. I have full confidence in you making us proud in the same way as well. You will be exemplary to prospective graduates.”
“New professions will emerge thanks to you”
IUE Rector Prof. Murat Aşkar pointed that the studies to be conducted by the youth would mean a lot in terms of the development of the country. Prof. Aşkar said, “Average life span in our country is 78 years. I strongly believe that this number will reach 90 years with your hard work. Life is made up of three basic stages. First stage is heavily based on education, and second, on work life. On the third stage, you get to spare more time for yourself and your entourage. You are now about to enter the second stage of your life. We raised you well educated and fully trained for business life. New lines of work and professions will emerge thanks to you.”
