Izmir University of Economics plans to remedy for qualified workforce demand of business world via its Alumni Information System. IUE graduates, who enter their current education and employment information in the system, and companies registered in the system will meet at the same platform, and companies will be able to find specialized employees they need easily.
The Alumni Information System, which was established with the intent to help graduates of Izmir University of Economics (IUE) find employment, and bring them together with the business world seeking qualified workforce, provides services to over 14 thousand graduates and nationwide companies in different business sectors. Companies registered in the system will post job vacancies, and graduates will be able to view these job vacancies. In his speech at the introductory meeting of the Alumni Information System, IUE Acting Rector, Prof. Murat Aşkar reminded that the University had been selected as the University with the most projects developed at the “Bu Gençlikte İş Var” competition of TUSIAD for four consecutive years. Prof. Aşkar stated that in addition to medium of instruction being in English, the University also offered second foreign language instruction. “Responsibilities fall on the University in bringing our graduates, whom we equip with such attributes, with the business world, in accordance with the vision of Izmir Chamber of Commerce Education and Health Foundation that is the founding institution of Izmir University of Economics,” said Prof. Aşkar. He mentioned that the system was entirely a product of Izmir University of Economics, which brought great advantages in operation and development processes. Prof. Aşkar said, “Since the system was intended for our graduates only, it is an İŞKUR (Turkish Employment Agency) approved project.”
Özge Kulaçoğlu, IUE Alumni Relations Office Coordinator, who reported that the IUE Alumni Information System was established in 2017, said that the system took its final form after a series of tests. Kulaçoğlu said, “Out-turn was the most significant criteria in making sure the system was running successfully. We wanted users to get the maximum benefit from the system.” There are 298 companies registered in the system, reported Simge Atamer, IUE Career Guidance Center Coordinator. Atamer said, “We received feedbacks from the companies on how they got irrelevant applications to their job vacancies. We started to use filtering methods to avoid this.
