I received my bachelor’s with a major in Architecture and a minor in Interior Architecture and Environmental Design from the Izmir University of Economics (IUE) in 2015. The most important factors that led me to select IUE was the distinguished professors, the courses being taught in English, and the opportunity to choose Italian as my 2nd foreign language during my degree. Thanks to my minor degree, I was selected to do an internship in Japan where I gained valuable experience and connections with professionals from different cultures and backgrounds. After graduating, I worked in the design, tender and construction phases of the retail and housing projects in FMB Architecture, Construction, and Project Management. I then moved on to Karakutu Elektroakustik where my role was primarily handling building acoustic designs for universities, congress halls and cultural centers. In 2018, I was accepted into the MSc in Building and Architectural Engineering program at Politecnico di Milano. While completing my master’s, I was also allowed the opportunity to work with international companies such as Studio APPA and Slalom which greatly improved my techniques in lighting design, daylighting, solar aspects of buildings, and the acoustic design of offices, banks, and restaurants. Currently, I am working as a Sustainable Energy Architect and leading the Climate Intelligence Unit (CIU) at ARGO Development Studio ARGO specializes in digital construction and climate intelligence in the Caribbean, Ireland, and the USA. Thanks to my LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) accreditation, I also support these projects as an international green building certification consultant. ARGO’s digital design and construction process allow us to intelligently analyze a building’s performance in a virtual environment to produce more sustainable, and net-zero energy buildings. By using this technology and process, ARGO creates a digital twin of our buildings, controlling its climate impact and helping our clients qualify for green and transition finance. Our team also works with LEED, WELL, and BREEAM certification requirements to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. I am excited with the direction of ARGO, which combines climate intelligence with digital construction as we look to the future of sustainable architecture. Also enjoyable for me is ARGO’s ‘Reach the Future’ initiative where I give presentations on sustainable architecture to young architecture students and tutors in the Caribbean.
