Elif Larende (22), who graduated from Izmir University of Economics (IUE) Faculty of Business, Department of Economics with the second place this year, got on the radar of the Brits with her high grade point average and research. Larende, who managed to get accepted by 9 universities in England for master's degree, preferred the world-famous University of Sussex. Larende, who will receive a 1-year education in the field of ‘international business economics’ in England with a scholarship, said, “I reached my target point. Going to England is a very important opportunity for me. My aim is to successfully represent our country abroad by taking on senior positions in international companies.”
Living in Karşıyaka, Izmir, Elif Larende became interested in economics and mathematics at an early age with the influence of her parents, who are bankers. Having developed this interest further during her high school period and shaped her career goal in this direction, Larende enrolled in IUE Faculty of Business, Department of Economics in 2018 with a 50% scholarship.
SHE WILL STUDY ON A SCHOLARSHIP
Larende, who has learned advanced level of French in addition to English, has set her target abroad since the first grade. Larende, who took the steps to reach her goal by spending her university years well academically, decided to go to England for her master's degree. Drawing the attention of the British with her high grade point average, research and references, Larende achieved great success by being accepted by 9 universities. As a result of the meticulous examinations, with the guidance of IUE academics, Larende chose University of Sussex. Larende will study in the UK on a scholarship.
I DECIDED WHAT I WANTED
Getting ready to go to England in September, Larende, who stated that she felt happy and proud, said, “I am at my target point now. Studying in the UK will be a great experience for me. I am aware that this process is an important opportunity for me. I want to make the best of it. I didn't study too much, I didn't hunker down at home for days. But I acted decisively and with a plan. I decided what I wanted, where I wanted to see myself in the future when I was still in first grade. I did all my studies in this direction. During my university years, I went to France for 4 months with the Erasmus program and had the experience of studying abroad. My aim is to successfully represent our country abroad by taking senior positions in international companies. I would like to thank my family and university for their trust and support at all times.”

Prof. Dr. Ayla Oğuş Binatlı, Head of IUE Department of Business Administration, congratulated her student Larende and said, “Elif was a student whom we trusted and loved, and she deserved success to the fullest.
